Release status
Subnautica 2 is out in Early Access / Game Preview. Unknown Worlds published the launch post on May 14, 2026 and pointed players to Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox/Microsoft Store. Steam also lists the Early Access release date as 14 May, 2026.
This is not the 1.0 release. Steam developer text says the team expects Early Access to take about 2 to 3 years, with more biomes, creatures, craftables, features and narrative planned during development.

What Early Access means
Early Access means the game is playable but still changing. Guides should be marked with checked dates because routes, performance, co-op behavior and progression details can be adjusted by patches.
